40 days in europe went alright, wasnt as long as what i thought.
in fact i liked it there more than sg, because firstly the weather here
sucks, 67% humidity like wtf?. and sg is just a stress hole.
we had all sorts of weather there, from 13-24 degrees in germany
to 12-28 degrees in denmark.. when i went back to germany
to pack e container with my special units, aka shit hole , the temp
fell to 8-9 degrees. i like!!. but obviously not when im sailing
anw. kiel week in germany went quite alright because the olympic
guys were there too and there was like 24 of us there?.. the food was
great there with crepes and the ice cream shop.. qualifying race went
alright for us, we were third into the finals. the funny thing was that
during qualifying , we were in the second fleet and so .. our first
races for 2 days were starting at 3pm?. so stine and i were kept ashore
by yourselves, and we spent like 30euros on food. eating the ice cream
and crepes and every other junk u could find there.
we had to wear pink bibs out to sea for being third place, it was
so fucking gay i tell u, when we were launching, everyone was
staring at us.. Pei ming and roy were laughing at us but soon
they found themselves in the same position during olympic
week when they were 3rd after the first day! muahah. karma!.
trainings' at kiel were really fun because it was a nice place to sail
with many other classes of boats, we did trng with the 470s too.
after kiel week , we stayed on to train for another 2 days and
caught glimpses of the 49er course. and we saw 2 friends
sailing them, they were sailing 29er at last years youth worlds..
we spent many days cooking at home in germany under the guidance
of suzzie, it was fun learning how to cook..
after 16 days in germany we drove up to denmark, aarhus.
we checked into the nice 4 star hotel. we had a shower with
adjustable temperature like 30-31 degree kinda.. 30'' LCD tv
in my room and it was very comfortable!.except that we had
the hotel complaining about us to ISAF for something we did.
haha, it wasn't that hardcore, they were just being asses.
standard of living in denmark was high, copenhagen is the 2nd city
in the world for highest cost of living.. i bought an ice mocha
and it cost me 13.5 bucks sg $.. it was crazy.. i love Scandinavian
summers because everyone just gets out and dine in town.
the weather is nice when the high pressures come its like 20ish degrees
with sunlight full day. its a very chilled out place unlike back here.
we spend 4 days trn before the event, the first day i wore just tights
and lycra top to sail, i frozed out so badly, i had to like take my lycra
top off to try to dry it!.then stine gave me his spray top which helped alot.
the 3 other days were spent training with the aussie, danish, swedish ppl.
the winds were lik 2-14 knots. very nice conditions to sail.
competiton started with 16-19knots. gusting 21 on the first day..
haha ive not seen waves so big before, on the downwind its always
full trap with my leg in the footstrap and holding stine for support
when i slip. and each time stine says gybe, im like '' eh commit commit''
haha as in commit into the gybe, dont puss out of it. even though
we didnt go as well , we really enjoyed the racing alot, its always about
learning and having fun, which was something we did alot!. even when 18knots
came on the other days, we still gave everything we had.
when the wind was 9-11knots on the last race, argentina and us
raped the fleet just by pure boat speed. i must admit, it wasnt too
good a feeling to see GBR 29er guys lift that trophy. cos i know
that if the winds were different, we stood a good chance with
the preparations we had. o well, this is sports. someone has to win/lose
we can only leave this competition knowing we gave it all, whats
impt now is to bounce back and give them the shit that will kill them
next year. i got 11 months now of hard work to do. this time i'm
absolutely leaving no chance. even if the winds are 3-30knots,
i am gonna stand a chance..
okay, my hands are hurting from this long post.
