pictures are all up on my facebook.
i'm too lazy to post another 150+ pics
here now.. the trip left me ill,
suffering from cough sorethroat and fever now.
took the A380 there, its overrated actually, its only super spacious
for business and first class, economy is actually very much the same.
first night i got there, i manage to upack everything and crashed arnd 1130.
woke up the next aftrn at 1230pm. my roommates and i missed the whole program
for the morning. they had some ice breaker thingy..
i felt that the chinese were super messy, they didnt have anything organised.
they had like 400 volunteers thats why they were super inefficient.
no one knew the next day's program. everything was last min.
we didnt even know what sports we were watching till we boarded the buses.
i manage to watch basketball womens, boxing, track and field, hockey.
was spose to watch tennis finals too! but i gave my ticket up for my friend
who plays tennis for south africa. i regretted it because i could have taken
pictures with federer and djokovic(spelling?).. track was really good, cos
they had all the heats for 100m men, so i manage to watch bolt, gay, asafa.
bolt did a 9.98 in his heat and he was cruising to the finish, it was sensational.
the youth girl from jamaica can do 400min 53 secs and her 800m timing is 2.03mins.
there were many youth champions in the camp. in my group there was another
girl who finished 4th at junior worlds in 200m. i found most motivation from
the czech republic boy, he is a long distance runner. he was the most discipline
youth athlete at the camp. he was training everyday even with the haze.
the chinese brought us to 4 chinese opera in total, everyone got bored of it,
it was a cultural camp too but they sure were drilling it into our heads..
they even brought us to their botanic gardens, everyone was like ''wtf''.
youths being youths, obviously shit did happen in the camp. the chile boy got
drunk during the opening ceremony, the boys from bosnia and Zimbabwe almost
got into a fight, luckily around 35 china police stopped them. literally 35 im not talking bull.
alcohol was banned from the camp but the general store in the camp was selling bier.
climbing the great wall was a good experience, some parts of it were really steep.
one thing i couldnt stand was china ppl walking through our paths when we were
taking pictures. there was a human jam when the 400 of us youths were getting down
the great wall, i stood on the same ground for 20mins. we had to push our way down
which was extremely gross if u ask me. the china ppl were sweating heeps and it was sick.
i'm not being racist by some of them had this smell. we actually had army troops to help
us get down, the china troops were shouting at the china ppl to move to the other side.
so in the end we had a clear lane for all of us to get down.
same goes when we were leaving the youth camp to watch the sports. the traffic police
stopped all the cars on the highway to let the buses we sat in pass. we had like the whole
highway to ourselves. anyway th opening ceremony was spectacular the chinese do have a thing'.
but some of the fireworks were fake,(digitalised).. it took us 1.5 hrs to get into the stadium
and we sat down in it for 7hrs. it was surreal being in the stadium, 91k ppl plus the athletes
another 10k.. its something i will never forget.
anyway there was so much night life back at the youth camp, the arabic guys were always dancing
and eastern european guys doing their silly things, example, shouting at 4am and bullying ppl.
the most disappointing of it all was the lousy DJ, he was playing chinese techno which was gay.
but every time a good song came up the dance flo went wild esp the caribbean ppl.
if u think andie from step up 2 can dance really well, wait till u see the caribbeans.
anw i gtg now, this is general blogging.
bloody aut talk in 2 hrs time.
